Join us for a performance of Maiko’s work in progress show as part of DUMBO Open Studios weekend
Sat April 18th - Sun April 19th | #434, 20 Jay St, DUMBO
Saturday, April 18th, and Sunday, April 19th, NowHere's Studio Program space opens to the public for DUMBO Open Studios, anchored by live showings of a new work-in-progress from artist-in-residence Maiko Kikuchi.
Maiko will be in her studio both days from 1–6PM, with works spanning her multidisciplinary practice on view between performances. Art in DUMBO's Open Studios brings together artists across the Brooklyn waterfront, opening studios and workspaces to the public.
Access to all performances are free of charge.
You’re invited: Live performance of Kojiki de Creation (work in progress)
As part of the open studio programming, Maiko will present early-development showings of Kojiki de Creation, a new performance piece currently being developed through the NowHere Studio Program, to be performed at the Japan Society later this year.
Inspired by Kojiki (古事記, "Records of Ancient Matters"), Japan's oldest surviving historical record and anthology of myths, the work draws on video, objects, and masks to conjure a surreal, playful world of transformation. Each showing runs approximately 12 minutes and will be followed by a brief talkback.
Shows at 2PM and 3:30PM are open to all guests, seats available on first come first serve basis (sign up for a reminder).
For NowHere friends and community, there will also be a very special ‘invite only’ performance happening both Saturday and Sunday from 5PM. To attend, and secure your seat, RSVP via the button below.
