We’re Joining Future Fair in Spring 2026
exonemo (L) 'Entropy' 2026 Mixed Media | (R) 'Terminal' 2026 Mixed Media
We’re pleased to announce our participation in Future Fair's sixth edition, taking place at Chelsea Industrial (535 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001) this May. The fair opens with a VIP Preview on Wednesday, May 13, and is open to the public May 14–15, 2026.
Now in its sixth year, Future Fair continues to distinguish itself as one of New York's most forward-thinking art fair platforms, bringing together 68 local, national, and international exhibitors from 9 countries across 4 continents. Known for its commitment to curatorial vision and equitable access, the fair also reinvests 15% of its annual profits as grants for participating galleries through its Pay-It-Forward Fund.
For this edition, we’ll be bringing a group of works by artist-duo exonemo, centered on the concept of randomness — a theme that finds particular resonance in the context of New York City. The presentation is anchored by HATCHET, a generative installation in which a computer attempts to guess a random passcode. The moment it succeeds, a mounted hatchet is triggered and released, destroying the machine in a single irreversible motion. Multiple devices are installed side by side, each solving codes of varying difficulty, resulting in an exhibition where destroyed and still-functioning works coexist.
Drawing on mathematician Gregory Chaitin's idea that a random sequence cannot be compressed, exonemo frames randomness not as chaos but as a fundamental condition of human existence, one that shapes identity in ways that are contingent, irreversible, and irreplaceable.
