The Yoda Family Feature in New York Times

Read here: A Family of Three in a SoHo Loft Without Walls

We’re excited to share that the Yoda family has been featured in the New York Times in a beautiful, in-depth profile by John Freeman Gill with photographs by Amir Hamja.

Set against the polished storefronts of today’s SoHo, the story opens the door to an artist-run time capsule: the weathered warehouse building at 11 Mercer Street, where the family has lived and worked side-by-side for decades.

The feature offers a rare look inside their 4,000-square-foot loft—an ever-evolving labyrinth of stacked canvases, makeshift “rooms,” and artworks in constant motion as three distinct practices grow under one roof. It traces the family’s long history in New York, their commitment to making work no matter how the city changes around them, and the daily rituals that keep the loft functioning as both home and studio.

The New York Times piece also notes that dozens of Toshihisa Yoda’s works will be on view later this year in a solo exhibition at NowHere—and we can’t wait to share more details soon.
